Pulaski County Extension Homemakers donated 65,590 hours to the community with the total value worth $1,404,937.80. These volunteer hours have included weekly classes with the Reach for Recovery Program in Somerset. Some nights more than 60 clients have shown up, male and female, and a variety of ages.
The 275 homemakers have also volunteered with the Alzheimer Program purchasing musical items to form an Alzheimer band that plays and sings music with the tapes. “Over My Head,” the home for the homeless has received paper good products, socks, personal hygiene items and other suggested items to give to the visitors that spend the night at the center. Cash, and other donated can goods have been given to God’s Food Pantry to help feed the hunger in our county. At Christmas, Veterans Day, Valentine’s Day, and other special holidays the Veterans in our county have received gifts and goody bags from the homemakers. The homemakers sponsored a table at the Habitat for Humanity dinner that made over $10,000. To help build houses for the needy in the county. These are just a few of the projects these ladies have conducted during the year.
