Extension Homemakers Take the Lead

Author: Nellie Buchanan

Planning Unit: Morgan County CES

Major Program: Kentucky Extension Homemaker Association

Plan of Work: Developing leadership skills to engage in local community

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

Leadership training, experience, teaching skills, developing leadership skills, sharing success and showcasing skills -- all of these and more have been demonstrated as Morgan County Extension Homemakers demonstrate their ability to plan, present and evaluate various annual programs, activities and events.  The leadership team planned and conducted the annual Holiday Fun Day incorporating skills developed in leader training sessions and skills tweaked through experience.  Ideas were shared, supplies gathered and workshops taught to some 35 adult and 6 youth participants.  Hands on sessions taught eco - friendly gift ideas, heritage skills and developed marketable skills that could increase income, lower debt risk and train others.  The skills demonstrated included talents enhanced through the years with experience, informal and formal teaching.
