Tri-County CEU course

Author: Kara Back-Campbell

Planning Unit: Taylor County CES

Major Program: Pesticide Safety – Plant Pests

Plan of Work: Commercial and Homeowner Horticulture Education

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

This year we had a tri-county CEU hour course for commercial pesticide applicators for categories 3 and 20. Two general hours were also offered. Lawn care professionals came from Taylor, Adair, and Green Counties as well as surrounding counties.
Several lawn care professionals had asked for closer CEU opportunities. These requests are what prompted the horticulture agent to offer this program. The program consisted of extension specialists presenting on the topics of herbicides for athletic turf, pesticides for landscape ornamentals, fertilizer and water quality, and soil fertility.
This will be a continuing program every year. There were several in attendance who showed a desire to have the program again next year. The horticulture agent will have four possible CEU hours available for commercial pesticide applicators to help them attain their CEU hour requirements.
