Major Program: Empowering Community Leaders (general)
Plan of Work: Leadership
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
Volunteers are well needed every month with Rowan County Extension, like many FCS programs in the state of Kentucky agents rely on volunteers to aid in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs. Each month Rowan County Homemakers are being found helping to educate and maintain programs with the agent. The Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent will continue to generate, educate, maintain, and sustain the leaders. Emphases are on the Rowan County Extension Homemaker program to have a strong connection to the community of Rowan County, so new and improved techniques are being taught with today’s youth. To allow this work to continue our Homemakers have recruited five new members to add to their already working group. Classes and assistance will continue to build and improve with our veteran homemakers leading the way for our new leaders. The New Year will bring three new programs for the homemakers to assist with, Cook Together Eat Together, Truth and Consequences, and Cook Wild Kentucky. The homemakers have moved from no one assisting three years ago to eight Homemakers assisting with classes being taught with FCS in Rowan County. Homemakers fund raising has also improved by 15% over the last three years. These funds are being used for local scholarships and new projects for those in need.
