Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
Although the position of County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources has been vacant the past year, efforts in this program area have continued. Lincoln County Support Staff, County Extension Agents for 4-H/Youth Development and Family and Consumer Sciences, and many community leaders have worked to make sure the needs of our clients have been met. Services provided include: 525 soil samples, 20 insect identifications, 15 plant disease diagnoses, 5 weed identifications, and 4 manure samples. We helped plan and facilitate several programs by recruiting specialists to teach, coordinating the agenda, attending the events, facilitating arrangements, and making everything work correctly. Programs conducted this year included the Annual Growers Meeting at the produce auction with the Mennonite community, Cow/Calf meeting, Dairy Meeting, Pesticide Trainings, Chemical Meeting, Tobacco Growers Meeting, Area Backgrounders Meeting, Forage Meeting, Goat Management Programs, High Tunnel Program, and Cost-Share Program. Assistance was provided to the members of the Lincoln County Cattlemen’s Association, who meet monthly at the Extension Office and do many community projects throughout the year, to the Fort Harrod Goat Association who meet five times during the year, and to the BeeKeepers Association who meet monthly at the Extension Office. Beef, Dairy, and Produce newsletters were also provided. Joint partners for programming include specialists at the University of Kentucky and Kentucky State University, co-workers in surrounding counties, our leaders, and various community partners.
