Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
We had an exceptional week of camping this year at the West Ky. 4-H Camp in Dawson Springs K, with over 110 people in attendance from Calloway County. The youth that attended camp learned several valuable skills that they will carry with them as they get older such as independent living, self-care, discipline, responsibility, time-management, resiliency and much more. They also participated in a wide variety of activities and classes such as archery, high ropes, horsemanship, shooting sports, fishing, canoeing, and the list goes on. Each night was filled with a fun camp wide activity followed by a dance party.
Matt and Kelly, our Ag and FCS agents led the charge this year for camp, directing the administration of our amazing adult volunteers and coordinating with Camp staff. They also co-taught a class each day on outdoor cooking, and helped kids learn how to cook over an open wood flame in the great outdoors. Camp this year was truly an amazing learning experience for all that were involved. This coming camping season looks to be great as well.
As a county we also exceeded our camping expectation numbers that were set by the state office.
