Area farmers need to have up-to-date information from UK specialists. Hort Agent has been creating newsletters to send to the farmers. Topics that are sent to the Agent by UK include flyers about area workshops and field days, crop reports, livestock production news, CAIP information, legislative reports and newest information on hemp production, to name some of these. Agent works with the Staff Support to create periodical newsletters that can be sent by USPS mail and also electronic newsletters for email.
Each time the newsletters are sent, the audience is 307comprised of individuals, 301 as Caucasian and 6 as African American. The number includes 115 females.
These newsletters are sent about 10 times during the year. Number reached is 3070.
In addition to this newsletter, Agent, with the help of Staff Support created packets of information that are held in the kiosk in the office lobby. Farmers can pick up a large envelope containing information on a particular topic. Some of these topics are Poultry, Hemp and Bee Keeping, to name a few.
Literature form UK is valuable to help farmers continue to know the newest information. This free literature is made available to the farmer by the Hort Agent covering ANR.
