Foreign Dignitaries Tour
Every year agriculture becomes more and more a global market. As these markets expand it is more important than ever to explore new opportunities and stay in tune with global demand. On September 18th the Christian County Cooperative Extension Service was honored to host the Kentucky Department of Agriculture Foreign Dignitaries tour.
The tour consisted of 32 participants from 23 different countries around the world. These participants were their country’s Agriculture Ambassador for their respective country. While some of the participants have been trading partners for many years, new prospective partners were all ears for what Kentucky has to offer. Countries as far away as Lithuania, Zambia, and South Korea were on hand to see Kentucky commodities.
While on the tour the participants were able to visit, Continental Mills, Siemer Milling, and Commonwealth Agri-Energy (Hopkinsville Elevator Ethanol Plant). Not only were the participants able to learn more about the commodities produced in Christian County, but they gained valuable information on the milling and distillation process. The ambassadors were able to network with industry professionals that have the potential to help move their country to the next level.
The Foreign Dignitaries Tour was a great opportunity for foreign ambassadors and local the agriculture industry to find new partnerships and discuss global needs. As the tour concluded the dignitaries were able to have open discussion with the industry professionals about how they were established. The ambassadors voiced some concern of the challenges that they have in their countries and were able to seek advice on how to overcome those obstacles. On a local level it allowed Christian County’s Agricultural Leaders time to showcase their goods and products to new perspective clients.
