ALM

Planning Unit: Madison County CES

Major Program: Accessing Nutritious Foods (general)

Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

The ALM Center is a day center for challenged adults. With a new group sometimes it is difficult to see changes in a short period of time.  These clients are a small group that is willing and eager to learn and try new things.  A lesson in hand washing was taught using a lotion that glows under a black light showing where dirt and germs are left behind as a part of safe hood handling practices. Clients also learned what a healthy snack is and prepared their own delicious yogurt parfait. With the intense temperature of this summer the importance of keeping hydrated was taught along with amounts of sugar and caffeine in soda. In which we all need to be concerned about. Less soda was drank with more water being consumed. I feel confident that each small hurdle conquered with this delightful group it will turn into healthier habits for life.
