The Breathitt County SNAP-Ed Assistant, in partnership with the Breathitt County Public School System, taught the LEAP (Literacy, Eating, and Activity for Primary) Curriculum. During one visit with a first-grade class, the book, Exercise, was read to 18 students.

As a part of the lesson, students participated in different physical activities and tried a healthy snack. Students learned the positive benefits and the importance of physical activity. Students were asked if they would exercise at home, as well as asking their parents to purchase more fruits, vegetables, and healthy snacks. 100% of the students indicated that they would exercise at home, and ask their parents to purchase more fruits, vegetables, and healthy snacks.
