Freezer Meals

Outcome: Initial Outcome
The Expanded Food and Nutrition program offered a freezer meal class. With the freezer meal class there were seven ladies that were in attendance. I taught how freezer meal planning is done and why we should freeze meals. I also taught how to prepare a one week freezer meal plan.
I started out by using ground beef to make a Meat Sauce Mix. After making the Meat Sauce Mix I showed them how to use the mix to make several other recipes. Those were Easy, Cheesy Pasta; Sloppy Joes; Spaghetti and Chili. After making the different recipes I spoke on how to freeze only in freezer bags and to make sure you date and label.
After the class, I asked the ladies to fill out evaluations for me. All seven made the comment that I had kept their attention, my delivery skills were good for them, and I had the ability to address any questions they might have. All of these ladies said that they had gained some knowledge about freezing meals. They said they would be using the information they had learned in class such as how to meal plan for the week, make several dishes with their meat mixture, how to properly freeze the meals and how to save money and time for their busy schedules. The seven ladies inquired about another class using chicken and pork.
