County Agriculture Investment Program (CAIP) for new and beginning Farmers

Author: Danny Adams

Planning Unit: Wayne County CES

Major Program: KSU Small Farm Program

Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

Wayne County farmers applied and received $150,000.00 in CAIP funds for 2019. I worked with new and previous applicants to complete their applications for cost-share funds. Ninety four farmers applied and seventy eight received cost share for 2019 in the amount of $2,000.00 each.

I helped several new applicants do their updated Water Quality Plans, help them with their applications if they had questions on their application. If they got approved this should allow farmers to up grade their farming operations with cost share funds.

Farmers should be able to improve their fences, storage facilities, also help with the cost of their commercial horticulture endeavors. Some producers should be able to improve their genetics in their animal operations. These funds along with the producers funds will contribute approximately $400,000.00 in the local Wayne County agriculture community economy for the 2019 production year.
