Allen County had five youth to participate in the 2019 Teen Summit Conference, joined by a Simpson County delegate.Five of Allen County’s youth  participated in the 2019 4-H Teen Summit Conference during March.  4-H Teen Summit is a state wide Kentucky 4-H conference that seeks to engage middle school aged youth and retain their involvement in 4-H activities through the middle school years, along with empowering youth to become active 4-H leaders on the local and state levels. The objectives of 4-H Teen Summit are centered on providing middle school aged youth with the opportunity to develop leadership skills through acquiring new knowledge to take back and implement within their local communities.  In addition, youth have the opportunity to belong to a group of peers and expand teamwork skills, exercise communication skills through networking with other 4-H’ers, experience generosity by giving back through a community service project, and develop relationships with role models through the Kentucky 4-H State Teen Council me4-H Teen Summit participants used problem solving and teamwork skills to build the tallest tower through critical thinking challenges. mbers.

Allen County Teen Summit participants had the opportunity to engage in fun workshops that built on Kentucky 4-H Core Curriculum life-skill areas such as robotics, cooking, outdoor recreation, arts & crafts and many more areas.  Youth engaged in problem solving through Science, Engineering and Technology activities in which critical problem solving skills and teamwork were applied to build “the tallest structures.”  On the final day of 4-H Teen Summit, four Allen County youth received recognition for their Kentucky 4-H Achievement Program accomplishments.
