4-H Military Liaision Grant

Author: Tyrone Atkinson

Planning Unit: Family and Consumer Sciences

Major Program: 4-H Youth Development Programming

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

Kentucky Extension has received another year of 4-H Military Liasion grant funding for the 2018-2019 award year cycle. This year has brung about a increase in funding for both bases which include Fort Campbell and Fort Knox. Through the leadership of Jennifer Tackett and Tyrone Atkinson as the Co-PIs and the Agents who serve as overseers of the on-post programs KY Extension and 4-H have another year to help foster youth development for military youth. The work could not be done without the amazing County Agents who make this program successful, Kaitlyne Metsker and Marla Stillwell, who continue to do excellent work for the military families in their counties (Christian and Hardin) and areas.  Without the help and leadership of Kaitlyne and Marla, these military youth would not be supported and accounted for, as they are a very vulnerable and transient population, but these agents help to maintain stability of programming.  The relationships that have been fostered, nurtured and maintained in Christian and Hardin County are truly why receiving another year of funding is the success story.  Kaitlyne and Marla have dedicated themselves to supporting military youth and families and it shows through the reports and funding KY Extension has received and hope to continue to receive.
