Planning Unit: Kenton County CES

Major Program: Summer Residential Camps

Plan of Work: 4-H youth development Programs

Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

4-H Camp more than just a good time. At summer residential camp, when children make new friends, explore the world around them, and learn that "I can" is much more powerful than "I can't", magic happens. In an environment created just for them, children learn real life skills, develop self-esteem, and gain a sense of independence and community. Whether children are playing, exploring nature, conquering new heights, or becoming part of a camp family, they are creating memories that will last a lifetime.  Although the campers are having a good time they are learning new skills everyday they are at camp.  In 2019 Kenton County made history in our county with the highest attendance ever recorded.  Kenton county had 154 people attend 4-H camp which included the highest minority attendance. 98% of the adults returned to volunteer for camp this year. 75 % of the campers were returning campers.  Seven of the adult volunteers were former 4-H campers that  returned to make sure youth would continue to have the same experiences they had at 4-H camp.  They felt camp was were they learned skills that they have carried into their adult life and want others youth to gain skills to last them a lifetime.  Camp is more than just a good time camp is a experience that last a lifetime.
