The Boyle County Community Early Childhood Council has undergone numerous changes in leadership over the past few years. For a period of about two years, there was minimal activity going on with the CECC in Boyle County. The Chair position had not been filled when the previous person stepped down, resulting in the CECC chapter missing the opportunity to apply for the grant during that cycle.

In 2017 the FCS agent took on the role of CECC Chair in order to rally the council and apply for the Governor's Office of Early Childhood grant. In 2018 grant funds were secured for Boyle County in the amount of $7800 to promote early childhood education as well as educational opportunities for families. During the grant year of 2018-2019 the Boyle County CECC used that money to host family night events, create a resource calendar and offer a Connect the Dots training for childcare workers. 

The family night "meet and greet" events were free resource fairs with food and giveaways for kids under the age of 5. Families could come learn about services provided in the county as well as learn about upcoming events. The resource calendars were developed in partnership with United Way to provide tips for educating your children at home. They encouraged behaviors such as literacy, social emotional development, and community involvement. They also had information specific to Boyle County such as story time schedules at the library, community events, and children's activities. The council printed 1000 resource calendars and provided them to every household with a child under the age of 5 in Boyle County. 

Now that the Boyle County CECC is thriving, they applied for the 2019-2020 grant and has been awarded $6970 to continue its mission.The CECC has gone from completely inactive with no operating funds to having a full membership of 12 official members (not counting volunteers), three sub committees, and two successful grant applications with at least 85% of the asking grant awarded.
