4-H Chili Supper and Live Auction
The Nicholas County 4-H Council hosted a chili supper and live auction on Saturday March 23rd to support the Nicholas County 4-H Camping program. Over the years our camping program has reached on average 90 people per year, this year we are able to take even more to camp at 130. Being able to take more people this year we knew we needed to have a way to provide camp at the base price and be able to provide scholarships. The Nicholas County 4-H Council worked hard to make the chili and sandwiches, set up the Livestock Pavilion, ask for donations and many other tasks to make this chili supper happen. With the help from Eddie Purcell as our auctioneer, our wonderful supporters and those who donated we were able to raise a little over $2,000. This is a huge help in relieving some of the camp fees and opening up opportunities for scholarships.
The chili supper would not have been possible without those who donated items to our auction including; 3 Star Industries, A Little off the Top, Mrs. Carolyn Barrisford, deSha’s, Dicks on Main, Hinton Mills, Ms. Louise Zachary, Ms. Lois Mitchell, Dairy Queen, Ms. Bonnie Metcalf, Ronnie Blakeman, The Bromagen’s, Old Pairs Road Liquor, Walmart of Maysville, Margaret Showalter, Will’s Grill and many more supporters. If you know a child that would love to come to 4-H Camp with us, please make sure they fill out a scholarship application by March 29th so they can be considered. We are excited for 4-H Camp 2019!
We were able to give eight scholarships to youth in need in Nicholas County due to the sucess of the Chili Supper.
