Homeownership is a part of the American Dream. However, with homeownership is a major monetary investment that also includes the responsibility of a maintenance and the task of deciding how a person wants their home to reflect their personality and lifestyle so that their home's value increases. There are many ways to learn how to decorate, repair and furnish a home. In some cases, we can just read a magazine or turn on the television to a favorite home design/decorate show or YouTube for "do it yourself" videos for just about any home task.
Franklin County offers a four-part series entitled "It's All About the Home". The series was taught by a professionally certified interior designer/Real Estate Broker. A total of 20 individuals registered for the series. Topics included: Color & Design, Furniture Arrangement, Lighting and Accessories; Preparing a Home to Sell and Downsizing and Living in Place. The participants increased in their knowledge and understanding about color selection, mixing patterns, scale and placement of furniture and new technological trends. The group has requested opportunities for improving their home e.g. kitchen and bathroom renovation, selecting contractors and DYI updates. The group was given the opportunity for a personal one-on-one consultation.
