Outcome: Long-Term Outcome
Members of the Lincoln County Extension Homemakers Association are very diverse and capable leaders who are not afraid of a challenge. Lincoln County has 141 members and 14 clubs. My role as a Family and Consumers Sciences Agent is both an advisory role and a teaching role. I offer assistance as needed and teach educational classes on a variety of topics, including leadership development. We have one International Club in the county, one deaf quilting special interest club, and one club in the Philippines. Members there have a feeding program for their community and have taught water filtering classes using equipment provided by our county association. Members plan, conduct, and evaluate their county programs including the Ovarian Cancer Tea, Veterans Appreciaton Event, Knocking It Out of the Park membership recruitment event, BackPack Program, County Annual Meeting, chairperson and officer trainings, craft classes, council meetings, and much more. Community service projects conducted include nursing home projects; annual scholarships to a graduating senior, Indian Summer Camp, and 4-H Camp; and donations of handmade totebags for cancer patients and fidget quilts for those with dementia. One member is currently serving as a state KEHA Chairperson. Several members and clubs received awards/recognition at the KEHA State Meeting for their projects. While members are increasing their knowledge of effective meeting skills, leadership styles, and team building skills, they are also sharing with others that knowledge learned and truly making a difference. Members of the Lincoln County Extension Homemakers Association are positively impacting themselves and others in their families and communities all around the world.
