Forbes Magazine states “Millennials and younger youth are struggling to pass life skills 101 in todays society”.  However, opportunities in the Hart County 4-H Program are more than just project related, 4-H teaches youth skills that will help them stand out as young adults.

For the past several years the Horses @ Hart 4-H Club lead by Hart County 4-H volunteers have taught a variety of lessons on equine science, showmanship, horse judging, communications, equine nutrition, proper care of horses and numerous other equine topics.  Through those educational lessons and demonstrations, 4-H members have gained knowledge in a variety of areas in equine education.  They also  improved their skills in caring for their horses and gained confidence in their abilities to show on a district and state level.

A 4-H parent recently sent this note to the Hart County 4-H Agent “My daughter recently won the Overall Champion with her Mustang and the KY Extreme Mustang Makeover.  This would not be possible without her involvement in the 4-H Horse Program.  Although this was not a 4-H competition, all the showmanship and 4-H equine education helped her to be able to train this horse.  4-H has even helped my daughter succeed in areas outside of 4-H.  It is very obvious to me that 4-H has given her the skills to be successful in many other equine projects in the future”.
