Planning Unit: Clinton County CES

Major Program: Health 4-H Core Curriculum

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The Clinton County 4-H Fair Club is a very active part of planning the Clinton County Fair and helping with activities during our County Fair.  The 4-H Fair Club was established as a 4-H Club to help Clinton County High School Students get involved in the county fair.  This year our 4-H Fair Club assisted with every night at the fair and hosted by themselves two nights.

The Clinton County Fair has been loosing money the first three nights of the fair for the past several years.  With the addition of the 4-H Fair Club and a new look at those nights by dropping some events and letting the 4-H Fair Club take over a couple nights the Clinton County Fair was more successful this year than it had ever been.

The Clinton County Fair made money ever night but one and this is the first time this has ever happened.  Each 4-H Fair Club member worked the food booth as well as other events.  These 4-Hers got to learn to cook, count money and make change, work the window for customer service and learn how to run a business and properly handle food.  The 4-H Fair Club earned over $1,700.00 during the fair.  There are 17 4-Hers in the 4-H Fair Club.  The fair board split the food booth with the 4-H Fair club so the 4-Hers were learning from adults how to be successful as well as showing the adults some new ideas for us all to be a success.
