Clinton County Cooperative Extension partnered with the Clinton County Farm Bureau Board of directors and the Clinton County FFA Chapter to host a farm safety day at Bluegrass Stockyards of Albany. The farm safety day consisted of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s roll-over tractor simulator and grain bin rescue demonstration, Kentucky Department of Forestry’s chainsaw safety demonstration, Clinton County’s 4-H ATV safety demonstration, Clinton County SNAP-Ed Home and Consumer Safety, and Kentucky Beef Network’s livestock handling safety demonstration. 273 students in the 5th and 6th grade at Clinton County Middle School had the opportunity to visit each station during the morning safety session. The afternoon session was open to the public to visit each demonstration area. Participants surveyed said they valued the opportunity to see the demonstrations first hand, it will help them to be more safety aware, as well as knowing what to do in situations, such as a grain bin entrapment.
