Zero Waste is the conservation of all resources by means of responsible production, consumption, reuse, and recovery of products, packaging, and materials without burning, and with no discharges to land, water, or air that threaten the environment or human health.  There are five ways we can all make a difference in regards to waste, refusing what we don’t need, reducing what we do need, reusing things we have, recycling what we can and composing the rest.  There are also many zero waste swaps one can do to reduce the amount of trash produced.   Leading up to Earth Day, the Family and Consumer Sciences Agent taught multiple lessons on Zero Waste and how to make Beeswax Food Wraps.  Over 50 people in over 5 counties have made the wraps, (an alternative to plastic wrap), over 150 wraps.  One participant, a Bee Keeper, is making them as a side business using her leftover beeswax.   As a result people are buying less plastic and in turn, decreasing the amount of trash they are producing.
