Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

In our community of Campbellsville we have a number of very talented artists, makers & musicians.   We also want to grow our farmers market to promote local foods and farmers throughout our county and central Kentucky.  As a Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, one of my tasks is to provide programs that improve community and economic development.  The FCS Extension Agent collaborated with the Campbellsville Main Street Association to bring a new market to Campbellsville called Court & Main Market.  Court & Main Market was created to showcase local farmers and makers in the quaint setting of historic Downtown Campbellsville.  Fresh, locally grown produce, along with handcrafted and curated goods are featured at each of our events.  Court & Main Market is held on the first Friday of the months of June thru October and is located just off Main Street in downtown Campbellsville.   Court & Main has three goals:   1. Feature local makers, artists and musicians.  2.   Feature our local farmers and encourage people to buy local foods.  3.  To increase foot traffic on Main Street in downtown Campbellsville.  We used social media sites, Facebook and Instagram as a tool to attract visitors from all over totaling over 900 followers on Instagram and over 750 followers on Facebook, this number also increases every day.  An average of 20 vendors set up at each market.  An evaluation was sent out to each vendor, from the vendors that reported back (about 50%) they reported a total of $12, 093 worth of sales.  Of those businesses downtown that stayed open during market night, they reported an increase of sales as well.  This is the second year for Court & Main Market and we are expecting even greater numbers.
