Major Program: Leadership 4-H Core Curriculum

Plan of Work: Provide Resources and Training regarding Financial Literacy, Career Skills, and Business Management

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

The Hopkins County Family & Consumer Science Agent and 4-H Agents partnered with the Hopkins County School System, Hopkins County Regional Chamber of Commerce, and First United Bank to bring the American Private Enterprise System to a selected group of 40 high school students throughout the school-year in Hopkins County.  The program helps prepare students for an active role in business through direct involvement with local business and professional leaders—offering and encouraging an exchange of ideas between the groups. In doing so, students received hands-on experience with career opportunities in business and provided leadership training as participants learned about applied American business practices.  After participating in the program, 100% of students reported being a better leader as a result of the training they received in the program, and 98% reported that the program was "very helpful" in increasing their understanding of the different types of business models.  Five local students qualified for the state competition at the University of Kentucky in June.
