2018 Kentucky Grazing Conference Profitable for Producers

Pastures are important to the profitability of beef, dairy and small ruminants in Kentucky. Educational programs addressing pasture profitability was identified by the Kentucky Forage and Grassland Council advisory process. Forage specialists (Henning, Smith, Teutsch) and staff of the UK Plant and Soil Science Department organized the fall 2018 Grazing Conference with the theme, "Turning Grass into CA$H: Opportunities in Grassland Agriculture." The meeting was held in Christian County (WKY) and Clark County (CKY) to broaden producer access to the educational material. A total of 250 attended the conference across both days. The topics were rated useful or very useful by 98% of respondents. More than 98% of respondents indicated increased understanding of the topics of the meeting. More than 98% of respondents indicated the meeting as a good value in terms of time spent and increased profitability for their farming operation.
