Spring Lawn and Garden Fair a Success

The Spring Lawn and Garden Fair is a program run by the Pennyroyal Master Gardener Association.The fair takes place at the Hopkins County Extension Service and offers a variety of activities including educational talks and demonstrations relating to horticulture, lawn and garden vendors, plant sales, and activities for children.  The purpose of the fair is to educate local residents about different topics relating to horticulture, as well as raising awareness of the Master Gardener program and Cooperative Extension Service.  On April 27th 2019, the Seventh Annual Lawn and Garden Fair took place and was well attended by 419 people (not including volunteers or vendors).Thirty-six Pennyroyal Master Gardeners, twenty-seven lawn and garden vendors, and numerous adult and 4-H volunteers were present at the fair.  A spring lawn and garden fair survey was handed out to the people in attendance at registration.  Of the people who completed the survey, 90% of them expressed that they planned on or may plan on changing one or more practices in their lawn, garden, or landscape as a result of attending the fair and 97% of them expressed that they would plan on attending the Spring Fair again.  Of the people who completed the survey and who had attended previous Spring Lawn and Garden Fairs, 76% of them made changes to their lawn, garden, or landscape as a result of attending the classes and demonstrations.
