Robertson County Is a very small county with a large percentage of low income families.  The Food Pantry truck comes on a bi monthly basis to offer free, nutritious food to families in need, but many of these families could use help in finding creative ways to make meals from the food delivered that may vary from delivery to the next.  I decided it would be beneficial to set up a display in the waiting area and, while people are waiting for their number to be called to pick up their delivery, offer recipes and other information concerning diet, exercise and related issues.  My display was received with great enthusiasm and many people stayed to talk and ask questions until their turn to pick up their food.  This has been a good opportunity for me to show what Extension does and the information we offer to an audience that I feel is sometimes overlooked or does not attend other Extension functions thinking "it doesn't apply to me".  It is also helping people to make the best use of some of the staple items delivered by the Food Pantry that may require some cooking skills instead of the "heat and eat" foods that some people may be more accustomed to.
