Major Program: Beef

Plan of Work: Unrelated to a specified County Plan of Work

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Kendal Bowman, Owen County ANR, was approached by a local producer who had to dispose of most of their cattle herd during an illness last year and had several hundred round bales of hay no longer needed. She wanted to help Nebraska farmers affected by record flooding. This one act grew into a statewide collection effort.

A staging area was secured for central Kentucky and the drive collected hay, fencing materials and other needed supplies from Kentucky farmers across the state. A local church organized, inventoried and palletized water, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items. Enough was collected to send 10 semi-trailer truckloads from Frankfort to Nance County, Nebraska.
