Outcome: Initial Outcome

In November, volunteer leaders from the Humane Society of Harrison County reached out to our Harrison County 4-H Photography Club for assistance.  Each year, the society puts together a calendar of adopted animals throughout the community which acts as a fundraiser to support the shelter's need for pet food and supplies.  The calendar consists of animals currently in need of adopting, as well as month sponsors who had adopted from the shelter.  The 4-H Photography Club members put their skills to use in providing the photos for the calendar.  Members met and traveled with the Humane Society volunteers to set up shoots around the community.  In all, seven club members completed 14 stops and over 1400 pictures.  The members worked on composition, framing, rules, and camera setting skills that they have developed through club meetings, or local county fair contest, as well as the Kentucky State Fair.  Youth were then able to work with Adobe Lightroom software to select and edit the photos to send for calendar production.  In all, 198 photos were submitted to the society committee to develop the calendar.  Copies were distributed and sold across Harrison County, giving credit to our local 4-H Club.   The Humane Society noted that their partnership with our 4-H Photography Club produced the highest quality and most attractive calendar they had produced in 13 years.  One club member said, "This has been an awesome way to do something we have learned and loved through 4-H, while helping a great cause at the same time!"  The 4-H Photography Club plans to continue their partnership with the Humane Society of Harrison County for 2019.
