Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

Expended Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), part of University Cooperative Extension Services assistance taught classes to adult groups on saving money for food. Food insecurity in Kentucky is 14.7%. An estimated 3,109 Morgan County residents live in poverty, and 878 of them are children under 18.

An entry and exit food recall was given to each group member. Having enough money for food at entry was 0% and at exit was 20% meeting recommendation. Cooking at home at entry 65%, exit  100%was cooking dinner at home. Comparing food prices entry 35% , exit was 100%. making a shopping list 5% at entry, with a 100% at exit.

Over all cooking at home most days a week comparing food prices, planning meals, checking the refrigerator and or pantry before going shopping  showed a 95% change over all. In 2018 Morgan county residents with limited resources participated in nutrition education lessons with 98% improving their ability to chose healthy foods.
