High school students are busy working jobs, playing sports, or are involved in school related extracurricular activities. Keeping teens involved in 4-H has been a struggle in Pulaski County because of this. The teens that are currently involved in the Pulaski County Teen Council are deeply committed and have a desire to grow the counties 4-H program. This year three Pulaski County Teen Council members attended the Leadership Boot Camp along with forty-eight other youth. Through this boot camp they worked to develop leadership skills and learn more about leadership opportunities in the state. Dr. Rachel Noble provide the following statistics highlighting the success of the program: 100% of the participants reported that due to their involvement in 4-H Leadership Boot Camp they are prepared to apply for a Kentucky 4-H State Officer position or state leadership board, feel more confident in an interview setting and with their professional resume, understand the purpose of an elevator speech, showing appreciation to others, and the value of a team. 4-H Leadership Boot Camp inspired youth participants to be better leaders because they will be able to implement the skills and ideas they learned at 4-H Leadership Boot Camp when they return home. 100% of participants felt like they made a connection to an adult who cared about them and are interested in their success. 100% reported that because of 4-H Leadership Boot Camp they could set and accomplish a goal. Twenty-five of the thirty-five participants previously participated in Kentucky 4-H Teen Conference. Twenty-nine of the thirty-five participants previously participated in Kentucky 4-H Summit. 100% of youth participants reported that they look forward to taking on more leadership roles in their county, district, and the state.  The teens that attended from Pulaski County have expressed more interest in state level leadership as well as promoting 4-H to other teens in the county.
