Creativity Club

Author: Anne Stephens

Planning Unit: Greenup County CES

Major Program: Artistic Skill Development

Plan of Work: Youth Voices for Creative Arts YVCA

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Greenup County has a rich heritage of talented and creative people. Although the arts are valued by most parents as an important component of the whole person, many of our local schools have reduced the availability of arts instruction and participation programs to students. Greenup Arts is bridging the gap by offering a newly formed Creativity Club for students in grades 4 through 8. This new group has members from all three school districts in our county which represent a diverse population. The students have self-identified their own personal arts media interest and reasons for joining the club that include finding new friends and sharing their love for the arts. Creativity Club has already offered leadership and personal growth lessons along with arts specific workshops. The goal of Creativity Club is to foster self-esteem and confidence in the creative thinkers of our youth population. The formation of the group represents an initial outcome. The Greenup Arts volunteers who are involved will help form the structure for the club that will lead to reaching intermediate and long-term outcomes.
