Teen Leadership Academy

Author: Katie Wallace

Planning Unit: Elliott County CES

Major Program: Leadership 4-H Core Curriculum

Plan of Work: Youth development in and out of the classroom

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

Elliott County 4-H in cooperation with Magoffin, Rowan, and Morgan County 4-H programs are conducting a 6 month Teen Leadership Academy. Participants completed an application process and screening to be accepted into the program. This is the first time Elliott County 4-H has had participation in the program, with four teens. Teens will learn about leadership, communication, and community engagement during the academy. Teens will also be charged with creating a speech or demonstration, leading a 4-H program, and complete a community engagement project.

One teen participant has already taken the reins and began working on a community engagement project featuring 2nd graders in the community.
