Outcome: Initial Outcome

Physical activity is a problem in Clinton County as evidenced by the counties obesity rate and poor health of some of our middle school students.  Our county is fortunate to have the opportunity of some federal grant dollars to work on increasing physical activity and help reduce obesity in our community.  As we brain stormed about sways to increase physical acivity it was suggested that we could purchase a Ga Ga Ball Pit like we have at 4-H camp for the Clinton County Middle School.  I was not sure how it would go over but I knew our camp kids liked to play Ga Ga Ball so we have it a try.

The Clinton County Middle School Adminisration got on board and agreed to let us put it at the school.  We decided on a good location and we got some 4-H Camp kids to help us erect the Ga Ga Ball Pit.  Now it is used more than any other equipment at the school for physical activity.  Teachers are using it for reward time and the kids love playing.  They get tired from playing and are moving and being physically active and they do not even realize that they are being physically active.  It was a win for the school and it was a win for getting the kids to be more physically active.  I enjoy watching the kids participate from the window of the school when they do not know anyone is watching.
