Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Math. In collaboration with the Grant County Public Library we held a STREAM event based of the book “What Really Happened to Humpty?” For this six week program we begin with reading the book. The next meeting covered the Crime Scene as youth gathered evidence. For the next week we worked with DNA extraction and finger prints. The engineering challenge was creating a safe container for eggs to be dropped from fifteen feet. Splatter painting with egg shells was our artistic meeting and we wrapped up with learning about map reading, grids and the compass.
With the entire program based off the book all the youth easily understood how each day was related to learning new skills. The group started small but grew as the word spread throughout the community. This great concept allowed for flexibility in programming and keeping each meeting new and exciting.
