Plan of Work: Extension Leadership Development

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

The Cumberland County Cooperative Extension Service depends on leaders and volunteers to reach individuals and extend knowledge and skills. The Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association (KEHA) is a volunteer organization that works to improve the quality of life for families and communities through leadership development, volunteer service, and education. County Extension Agents for Family and Consumer Sciences work closely with KEHA members and clubs to provide educational programming and coordinate community activities. Cumberland County Extension Homemakers contribute many hours to the local community. They also make contributions to local agencies within the community. For the 2018-2019 KEHA year, Cumberland County Extension Homemakers logged 6,490 volunteer hours which is the equivalent of $37,700.00. Also, 3 county scholarships were given in the amount of $1,140.00. Cumberland County Extension Homemakers support the local Veteran's Day program with 17 quilts being given to local veterans this year. A major focus has been placed on reporting the time and efforts that are being made to improve the documentation which in turn shows the value of Extension Homemakers to the local community and to the state as a whole. As can be seen by the dollar value placed on the volunteer time reported by the Cumberland County Extension Homemakers, the organization proves to be valuable and worthwhile to the community.
