Christmas Project and Food Safety

There is a program in Owen County that helps to provide local families in need. With Christmas gifts for their children. To receive gifts, they are required to attend educational classes and complete 40 hours of volunteer hours. I provided the Nutrition Education classes to fulfill the educational classes’ requirement.

During this program, families were taught about food safety and the importance of washing their hands before they start cooking, using the Healthy Choices for Every Body Curriculum.

At the Beginning of the program, 100 % of the families reported that, honestly, they wash their hands about 20% of the time when cooking at home for their families. At the end of the program 90% of families ALWAYS wash their hands when preparing food for their families.
