Farm management includes and involves many facets of the farm business operation. Some farm businesses may be several hundred or thousands of acres requiring the need for oversize farm equipment to be transported on public highways in a safe and legal manner. Muhlenberg  County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Darrell Simpson, and Curtis Dame, Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources from Hopkins county worked to produce an educational video regarding transporting oversize farm equipment that met those needs. A local grain farmer, the local sheriff's office, and the Kentucky State Police Vehicle Enforcement branch assisted in educating the general public and farmers about this issue. Brian Volland and Matt Barton from the University of Kentucky Ag Communications department provided their expertise to video tape each segment of the educational effort and ultimately produce a full length video. Topics included properly equipped escort vehicles, lighting, escort to implement communication, regulations and related topics, The videos were shared with the Kentucky Department of Transportation  and both the Muhlenberg County and Hopkins County School bus garages. The Muhlenberg County school bus garage commented that the video would be used as a training video for the county school bus drivers. The video link was emailed to all Extension Agents for Agriculture and Natural Resources throughout Kentucky.  To date, the promotional video has been viewed over 15,100 times on Facebook and has appeared on RFD TV as well.
