Major Program: Kentucky Extension Homemaker Association

Plan of Work: Empowering Community Leaders

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

The Gallatin County Extension Homemaker organization is the largest civic and volunteer organization in Gallatin County with 202 members. Extension Homemakers work to improve the quality of life for their families and communities through leadership development, volunteer service and education.

Gallatin County Extension Homemakers are active and involved with the Kentucky Extension Homemaker Association at the Northern Kentucky Area and State level.

Gallatin County Extension Homemakers received 2nd Place in the Strengthening Family - Family and Individual Development awards at the 2018 KEHA meeting for our Fisher House project.  The Fisher House supports veterans, active military and their families receiving treatment at the Cincinnati VA Hospital by providing a free hotel like facility during the patient’s hospital stay.

Gallatin County Extension Homemaker membership continues to increase due to mostly word of mouth and the positive impact Homemakers make in our community. Unfortunately, the membership growth has been mostly mailbox members and not club members. However, the special interest quilt club continues to grow in numbers.

Members of Gallatin County Extension Homemakers give back to our community. Events included a 5k/10k race to benefit the Homemaker Scholarship Fund, given to a Gallatin County High School graduating senior. During the 2018 year, Gallatin County Extension Homemakers reported over 12,000 volunteer service hours.
