4-H Camp more than just a good time. At summer residential camp, when children make new friends, explore the world around them, and learn that "I can" is much more powerful than "I can't", magic happens. In an environment created just for them, children learn real life skills, develop self-esteem, and gain a sense of independence and community. Whether children are playing, exploring nature, conquering new heights, or becoming part of a camp family, they are creating memories that will last a lifetime.  Although the campers are having a good time they are learning new skills everyday they are at camp.  After many years at camp I wondered what did campers learn. This year Kenton County had 124 people attend camp.  After attending 4-H camp 100% of the adults stated they would return to volunteer for camp next year. 95% of the campers want to attend next year.  When asked how many made a new friend 65% of the youth met a new friend.  85% of the youth felt being unplugged from electronics was a good thing. of the youth . 74% learned new games they could play outside. The overwhelming comments at the end of the week was how they did not want to go home yet.  Camp really does change kids they learn social skills and self help skills. Most of all they learn that you do not have to have a electronic in your hand to have fun.
