Sedita Whited, an Art Instructor from Jones Park Elementary, expressed interest in working together to provide art workshops for our youth following guidelines for Kentucky State Fair exhibits. A series of 6 workshops over several months were offered. Funding for all art supplies and materials was covered under the Memorandum of Agreement with the Casey County Board of Education. Throughout the workshops participants obtained skills in using color pencils, watercolor pencils, water color paints, acrylic paints, perspective drawing, and sand painting. Additional Project Work Days were provided so participants could work on additional projects for the fair. The workshops had an average of 6 attendees who continued to participate throughout the series. A total of 17 art exhibits were entered in the Casey County Fair (resulting from the art workshops) with six Class Champions that will continue on to the Kentucky State Fair.
Various after school art workshops will be offered with the 2018-2019 school year.
