My intern experience with the Cooperative Extension Service has been educational as well as fun, but also benefitted me in ways I did not expect. My knowledge of the services and programs provided by the CES has grown exponentially. I have gained an appreciation for what a CES agent does for our community, and found out first hand the dedication they have for what they do.
Two years ago I returned with my family to Calloway County to purchase a farm and continue my college education. I captured a small glimpse of the support and technical expertise provided by Matt Chadwick, Agriculture agent for Calloway County, when he visited my farm to discuss pasture renovation. Soon after I decided I wanted to learn more and applied for an internship with CES in Calloway County. Since I began my internship I have had the privilege to work alongside Matt to assist agricultural producers with issues, provide educational programs to youth in our area and learned how much the CES has to offer.
This internship has expanded my knowledge of agriculture, and gave me the opportunity to share what I had learned with the citizens of our county. I have enjoyed every minute working for CES and I believe this experience will help me with my farm, career and allow me to better explain to the public what CES does for them every day.
