Crittenden County Chamber of Commerce was looking for ways to better serve the businesses in the area. Crittenden County Agriculture and Natural Resources agent Dee Heimgartner was able to share about the CEDIK program. The group decided it was worthy to survey local businesses utilizing the CEDIK Business Retention and Expansion Program. Utilizing the resources and survey CEDIK specialists developed specific to the county, eight members of the Chamber of Commerce, including Heimgartner, surveyed 19 local businesses. CEDIK organized the results into a report format that was presented at a Community Leadership Breakfast. The results indicated that employment skills was lacking in the community among other issues of drug use and housing. The Chamber is focusing on the employee skills by partnering with local school district to develop soft skills for students.This is just a start to the steps that are planned to improve the business community in Crittenden County all based on the results from the business, retention and expansion survey.
