Planning Unit: Plant and Soil Sciences
Major Program: Grain Crops
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
I became theUK representative to the Kentuckiana Certified Crop Advisors Conference in2011, a program that was in place for several years prior to my arrival at UK. Thislongstanding program provides current information for crop production common toKentucky and Indiana agriculture. Approximately 200 CCA’s attend thisconference annually from Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Missouri. Themajority of the participants are repeat attendees. I am responsible forcontacting and confirming half of the speakers each year, based on previoussurvey results, current topics, or abnormal growing conditions of concern. Thisprogram is self-sustaining due to registration costs and provides 15-16 hoursof continuing education for CCA’s. I hear many comments from attendees thatthis is one of their favorite meetings of the year, they can get a lot of CEUat a very affordable price, and the information presented is pertinent to theirclientele.
