Outcome: Initial Outcome

Philip Konopka, ANR Agent Lewis County, and I worked with an individual in his county that has a landscaping business and some fruit and vegetable production.  He was looking to expand his season to provide work for his landscaping crew so we decided to help him with approximately 1/4-acre of plasticulture strawberries.  I used some of my Horticulture Council Funding, and Philip used some of his funding, and the client provided labor along with management of the patch.  Philip, the client, and I provided time and labor to establish his planting in September of 2017.  In the Spring we had a field night with good attendance so that growers or potential growers in northern KY could see the planting and make educated decisions about whether they wanted to consider the enterprise or not.  The grower was quite happy with the outcoome of his enterprise despite it being a poor year for strawberries and said he would like to continue the project in the future.
