Knox County Extension works to strengthen programs and better serve the residents of Knox County. As part of this process, the County Extension Council, Extension District Board and county agents worked to identify ways to improve Extension facilities and future needs of the county. The process began over 5 years ago for planning the development of an outdoor pavilion facility. The structure was completed in Spring of 2018.
Near 100 individuals attended the Open House event for the new structure. The new pavilion is a multi-purpose structure that has been used for many of the Extension Office’s educational programs along with other partner educational programs. The Extension Pavilion has helped us reach audiences not already cliente of Extension. Ag Field Days, the Redbud Festival, Cloverbuds, Farmer's Market, gardening programs, food sampling, and 4-H youth programs have been conducted in the million dollar facility since its opening. The new 40x100ft structure boasts picnic tables, a community walking track, kitchen, plumbing and electrical hookups. The overall design is a pull through structure making it a perfect host site for Extension and community events.
