Describe the Issue or Situation. 

Agriculture remains a cornerstone of the economy in Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton, and Hickman Counties, with a remarkable $1 billion regional impact and over $359 million in agricultural products sold across 960 farms. WAVE AG Day 2025 once again highlighted the importance of this sector, celebrating its contributions and honoring those who drive it forward. Now in its eighth year, the event was held on July 31^st at Columbus Belmont State Park, running from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30. This year’s theme, “Let’s Grow With It,” continued to unite and inspire the region’s agricultural community.

Describe the Outreach or Educational Program Response (and Partners, if applicable). 

WAVE AG Day is a large-scale, collaborative initiative involving multiple stakeholders. The event is supported by the four county judge executives, UK Cooperative Extension Agents (ANR and FCS) from each county, agricultural businesses, local County Farm Bureaus, River Valley Ag Credit, and numerous community partners. Planning occurred year-round, with agents and partners working together to coordinate logistics, secure sponsorships, and engage the public.

• Young Farmer Award
• Outstanding FFA Member
• Outstanding 4-H Member
• Legacy Award

Provide the Number and Description(s) of Participants/Target Audience. 

The event began with a farmer’s appreciation breakfast, setting the tone for a day of recognition and education. More than 250 farmers, producers, and agricultural professionals attended. They had the opportunity to hear from several key leaders, including Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell, who delivered an address on the future of agriculture and economic growth in the region. Local legislators and county officials were also in attendance, reinforcing their commitment to supporting rural communities and agricultural innovation.

Provide a Statement of Outcomes or Program Impact. Please note that the outcomes statement must use evaluation data to describe the change(s) that occurred in individuals, groups, families, businesses, or in the community because of the program/outreach. 

Prior to the breakfast and awards ceremony, attendees visited over 54 educational booths and vendor exhibits, each highlighting various aspects of modern agriculture. One notable booth, hosted by the Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) program, emphasized healthy food choices and nutrition education. These interactive displays allowed attendees to connect with agricultural services, innovations, and educational materials relevant to both farming and everyday living.

Based on verbal feedback and informal evaluations, 100% of those surveyed reported the event was a success, with many expressing eagerness for next year’s program. The event continues to strengthen community ties, enhance agricultural literacy, and support economic development across the region.

With strong momentum and positive feedback, WAVE AG Day has now found a permanent home at Columbus Belmont State Park, ensuring its continued growth and long-term impact. As the event concluded, both organizers and attendees were already looking forward to continuing the tradition under the rallying call: “Let’s Grow With It.”
