The University of Kentucky 4-H Communication and Expressive Arts (CEA) Programs continue to make a powerful impact across the Commonwealth. Through hands-on learning and creative expression, youth and volunteers are developing essential life skills that prepare them for success in school, careers, and their communities.
By the Numbers
- 18,846 hours contributed by staff and volunteers.
- 114,940 contacts made with local stakeholders, strengthening community partnerships.
- 42 hours of multistate collaboration, expanding program reach.
- 5,678 volunteers engaged in supporting youth development.
The CEA programs focus on helping young people build communication and expressive skills that last a lifetime:
- 22,295 youth used information to communicate effectively with others.
- 20,605 youth improved their ability to express thoughts and opinions.
- 21,348 youth demonstrated new skills learned through the program.
- 1,762 youth (ages 5–18) participated in CEA programming.
Volunteers are a vital part of the program’s success:
- 2,444 volunteers supported youth in developing communication skills.
- 4,688 volunteers helped youth strengthen their ability to express themselves.
- 4,688 volunteers observed youth demonstrating learned skills.
- 1,442 adult volunteers (ages 19+) were directly involved in CEA programming.
Whether through public speaking, visual arts, or performance, Kentucky 4-H CEA programs provide opportunities for youth to grow in confidence and skill. These experiences help young people become more capable, articulate, and prepared for future challenges.
