Community Gardening Program leads to Master Gardener Recruitment

The Midway Branch of the Woodford County Public Library is a favorite venue at which to present gardening programs in Woodford County. The Extension Agent for Horticulture presented several programs in Spring 2025, including ‘Controlling Pests in the Spring Garden’ and ‘Native Plants for Pollinators.’ One regular attendee who enjoyed the presentations maintains a large pollinator garden at a local community park. She expressed interest in learning more about native plants and educating others about the importance of pollinators. The Extension Agent for Horticulture suggested she apply for the upcoming 2025 Woodford/Franklin County Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program. The attendee has submitted her application and is set to begin the program in August 2025.
